The Latest Project

This project kinda got out of hand. I started it probably 2 months ago and I just finished. Let me say, that while I enjoyed working on it, I’m glad to be done! it started out as just some wooden toys for my son to play with when he’s old enough to play with them. Then I figured it would be good to make some extras cause they are cute and I could give them to friends having babies at baby showers and such. Then I had the idea of doing vehicles as well as animals and then by the time I made extras of those there were about 54 toys total. Like I said, it got out of hand…

Thankfully I have a family that is both tolerant and helpful. Quinn is really busy with school but he was able to help a bit with cutting the shapes out and drilling. My parents really helped a lot with cutting out the shapes, sanding and drilling holes and some painting too. I did probably 80% of the sanding, 100% of the tracing, 93% of the painting and 100% of the assembling. It was a lot of work but they turned out so good!

Unfortunately they will just be sitting in a box until our son is old enough to play with them or till someone else has a baby. I figured it would be way harder to undertake a huge project like this with a newborn, so even if they sit around for a while, I’m glad I got them done now.

BABY SHOWER!

On this past Saturday I had my baby shower and it was awesome! About 30 people came and we visited, played games and had really yummy food. It was so fun!

I actually had several people offer to throw me a shower, so they all coordinated the party, it turned out so well! I just kept looking around the room at all these women who surely had other things they could be doing on a sunny Saturday. But, they weren't doing anything else, they all came to support me and I felt so very loved. =) Some of the women I've known for years and years, some I've known all my life and some I've only known a short time, but they all came for me and for my baby =) I have great family and friends. I had 2 moms (one in-law), 4 sister-in-laws, a cousin, 2 aunts, my grandpa's wife and a ton of friends. I really appreciate all the support and the friendship I've been given this weekend, I feel truly blessed =).

Belly, Belt Buckle and Baby Bowties

I'm now 32 weeks along in my pregnancy, so just about 8 weeks left!

I realized the other day that it's now May, so instead of saying I'm due the end of June, I can now say the end of NEXT MONTH!

That's a pretty crazy concept....

Quinn and I are excited and of course at least a bit nervous too. This will change our lives forever, I like to think it'll be a positive change though.

Quinn and I hit another milestone yesterday.... we started attending birth classes.... wow, let me just say labor doesn't sound fun. I guess the only other option would be to stay pregnant forever, and that sounds worse.



I made this shirt out of a shirt my size (top) and an oversized shirt (bottom)

So, ya know how sometimes teacher's assign projects that seem well... a bit different....? Well Quinn's art teacher likes to do just that. I'm really not sure how she came up with this, but Quinn had to make a giant sized replica of an everyday object... 100% out of masking tape....

Here's the result: A belt buckle fit for a giant.



A crazy assignment, but it actually turned out pretty cool. It took about 7 rolls of 2 inch wide masking tape to make.

 Bowties! So I think baby bowties are adorable and I'm not about to actually buy any when I know how to sew, so I figured out how to make them! I'm pretty proud of myself, they turned out super cute. I attached them to a pin back (like a safety pin) so I can pin one ot a onsie or a shirt with a collar or whatever.

Projects like this make me even more excited to meet our son, he's gonna be adorable!
